Hi! I’m Dr. Baker (she/her).
When I was a kid, I wanted to be a lifeguard-cowgirl. While I couldn’t have articulated it at the time, that dream reflected a desire to spend my life engaged in equal parts exploration and service. And although ‘therapist’ doesn’t sound quite as compelling as lifeguard-cowgirl (at least not to me), it turns out to be surprisingly close to what I had in mind.
Of course, a lot happened between that early vision and where I am now. In addition to years of education and training, my path has included its share of surprises, challenges, and unexpected turns. I can hardly believe how lucky I am to be here. It is an immense pleasure and privilege to walk alongside my clients in their lives and their processes.
education & training
Alongside my formal education and training, I bring over a decade of experience providing mental health services across a range of settings. Early in my career, I worked in wilderness therapy with adolescents navigating ADHD, autism spectrum conditions, and behavioral challenges. I’ve also worked in academic settings supporting college students with intellectual disabilities, as well as in both inpatient and outpatient hospital environments. In addition, I served as the lead therapist on multiple NIH-, DOD-, and PCORI-funded clinical trials focused on treatments for chronic pain and opioid use.
Chronic pain has been a central focus of my work since 2016, both as a clinician and researcher. Until recently, I was on the faculty at the Chronic Pain and Fatigue Research Center at the University of Michigan School of Medicine, where I primarily did neuroscience-driven research on developing psychedelic-assisted therapies for chronic pain. While I now focus primarily on clinical care, I remain actively engaged in the research world and continue to bring that scientific perspective into my work with clients.
