ketamine-assisted therapy
Ketamine is a unique medicine that works differently from traditional pharmacologic treatments, offering support for long-standing challenges such as treatment-resistant depression, chronic pain, and PTSD.
Ketamine is classified as a dissociative anesthetic and, at higher doses, is used in hospital and surgical settings for anesthesia. At lower doses, it is considered a non-classical psychedelic that can create a dreamlike state of consciousness, often experienced as spaciousness, expansion, or a sense of stepping outside ordinary awareness.
In this state, people may feel less identified with entrenched patterns of thinking and emotion, allowing for new perspectives and reduced emotional reactivity to distressing material. When combined with IFS, this openness can support deeper therapeutic work.
